Superman’s x-ray vision

So, where *does* Superman's x-ray vision come from?

Many years ago in high school, my friend Andy and I were talking about superheroes—yes, I was a nerd back then, too.

I said, “You know, Andy, I was reading reprints of some of the old Superman comics, and I found out that, on Krypton, everyone had x-ray vision.”

“Really?  I thought that Superman got his powers from Earth’s yellow sun.” Andy replied.

“Most of them, yes.  And some strength from Earth’s lesser gravity.  But his super-vision powers he inherited from his parents,” I informed him.

“Do you mean?”

“Yes!  He had parental supervision!”
